The Gothic Line, a bunker of reinforced concrete. Antiaircraft Flak guns. 280 shots in a minute. Burning contrail were writing fire lines in the sky. The only thing he could do was avoiding those deadly bullets: they were mowing all your Mosquito planes. Suddendly, a dull break, the right wing cracking, the cloche going mad. A smell of fire and death coming in the cabin, while your aircraft was leaving a black contrail of smoke. A desperate manouver, to overcome the crest; the bottom of your plane breaking the trees. After, the night. Cap. Radcliffe close his eyes while the seat was thrown out the cabin, and the plane was burning in the sky. Something had struck his hip, but he was not feeling bad. In his head, the verses he wrote that morning were slowly flowing, while everithing gone darker, and the parachute was taking him to the ground. ’’May the silence fall; may the deepest ocean will close overe those dead men’’.

He often refers to Stella   inside the Stella Rossa Brigade. He wanted to come back to his mates overcoming the crest, but now he is wounded and could not afford that walk.
