Toggle Group description

“Solidaridad”
“Blood covered the streets of our country, the blood of civilians and soldiers, together with the tears of women and children” (Raùl Silva Henriquez, Cardinal of Santiago)

Solidaridad is a charity and assistance group, created by catholics in Santiago. Daily witnesses to the misery of Chilean population, of the daily struggle for a loaf of bread, for healthcare, for a job to provide for their families, the priests are close to the common people.
Local priests and nuns face the hardship of the regime, and the unwillingness of Rome to denounce the dictatorship’s crimes. They become themselves opposers, potential victims. Among them, there are also supporters of the Junta, who appreciate the “political silence” imposed by the Junta after the Congress dismantlement, out of fear or to protect their herd, or for belief in anti-Marxism.
Solidaridad’s game will be strong, dramatic, focused on interior dilemma. They will be active in the defence of Christian values in opposition to the regime, to the Vatican, or in the clash with the Marxist opposers.
THEMES: faith, conscience, human rights, politics.

Teaser:

Monsignor Estevez is proud to be the new Chancellor of the Vatican University in Santiago. He beams smugly in the face of his disbelieving colleagues. He now enjoys the Government’s trust and protection, and from above witnesses those raised arms calling for help. Such an expression of mortal transiencethly. Earthly pain disappears against the principles of divine science. Such are the thoughts of his enlightened mind. He doesn’t care about those who accuse him of failing his priestly mission; he gave what he could years ago and now it is time to think of himself.

Relations:

He can't wait to get to know Joaquin Navarro Valls  . In the eyes of Silva   he sees a judgement that doesn't bother him: what does he know about his work at the University? He met the pretty Consuelo Fisher   when she interviewed him about his nominee; she charmed him and now he’s eager to see her again. He takes good care of Sister Ana Luz de la Vega  , as if she were family; after all he saved her from a life of dissolution and helped her parents when they asked him for a big favour.
