Toggle Group description

“Solidaridad”
“Blood covered the streets of our country, the blood of civilians and soldiers, together with the tears of women and children” (Raùl Silva Henriquez, Cardinal of Santiago)

Solidaridad is a charity and assistance group, created by catholics in Santiago. Daily witnesses to the misery of Chilean population, of the daily struggle for a loaf of bread, for healthcare, for a job to provide for their families, the priests are close to the common people.
Local priests and nuns face the hardship of the regime, and the unwillingness of Rome to denounce the dictatorship’s crimes. They become themselves opposers, potential victims. Among them, there are also supporters of the Junta, who appreciate the “political silence” imposed by the Junta after the Congress dismantlement, out of fear or to protect their herd, or for belief in anti-Marxism.
Solidaridad’s game will be strong, dramatic, focused on interior dilemma. They will be active in the defence of Christian values in opposition to the regime, to the Vatican, or in the clash with the Marxist opposers.
THEMES: faith, conscience, human rights, politics.

Mankind is used to failure. Men are flawed, but God gave them intellect and the opportunity to understand and make up for their mistakes. A Cardinal is a man, and as such is not exempt from error, but now, withstanding the spread darkness, Silva Enriquez faces the Junta and the highest clerics, for the Chilean Church should be among those in need of care and Christian solidarity. The crying, the wailing, can’t be ignored in silence any more. So he falls to his knees in front of the weakest souls, and stands as shield against those who would sacrifice them.

Relations:

Now that Enrique Alvear Urrutia   is by his side, he feels alone no more. Manuel Contreras   has subtly threatened him to shut him up, should he keep disrupting the routine police operation. How can Monsignor Jorge Arturo Medina Estevez   still be blind to the pain around him, focused only on his career?
