Libertalia was founded in 1682 by Mission, Tew and Caraccioli. Avery took refuge there in 1690, when she became the most wanted pirate captain in the world. Her group includes two members of her old crew, Indigo and Hunter, and several Malagasy who have joined over time for various reasons: Karma, Tamatave, Similay and Salazar. Chili and Bellamy joined the group in 1692. The newest addition, Plomb, moved from Tew's group to Mission's group in 1696.

Avery's group is distinguished by having been in Libertalia for less time than Mission's. However, it is made up of free sisters who contributed decisively to its development into the pirate republic it is now.

Hunter, how many lives have you lived? First in the Navy, then as a privateer, and finally in Avery's service. But none of your lives have you felt more your own than the one you spent in Libertalia. Honour has always characterised your actions, and now that honour is employed in holding together a community in danger of falling apart. Your brusque ways are something almost everyone is willing to overlook when they see the love with which you fight for your free sisters. Until now you have always sought a point of reference outside yourself, whether it was rules, or a blind faith in a pirate captain. Perhaps the time has come to become a point of reference yourself, for you and for the others.
