Warrick is used to handling everything perfectly. Never a delay, never a hesitation. He is always where he needs to be, and he runs the machine flawlessly. Of course it is true that Devington is what it is thanks to the intellect and the spirit of students and professors, but people tend to underestimate his work: who is it that sends the rejection letters? Who is it that organises schedules, meals, lectures, seminars? And who is it, in the end, who has to expel eager young people or dismiss good professors? Warrick scoops up the ashes and keeps silent. He has too much respect for the Devington institution to complain.
