Teaser:

Wilder comes from a modest, quiet, regular family. Their sister is a Gifted woman who has made a success out of her commitment and talent, and Wilder - after winning a scholarship - wants to follow the path that she has already blazed. Or at least that is what they have believed for a long time.
An introspective and self-doubting person, after their first years of academic success they find themself wondering what their true place in the world is. Do they want to stick to the honest mediocrity of their family, or aim for something different? There is nothing wrong with the hard work of the middle class. So why is it that simple, everyday successes do not make their life fulfilled and happy? For some time now they have been on a path of inner discovery.
Extremely idealistic and uncompromising, a trait that sometimes leads to confrontation, they live their relationships as authentically and sincerely as possible. They firmly believe in meritocracy and principles, although as they mature they are beginning to rethink what really counts.

Les lumières

They are a secret society inspired by the myth of the cave, Plato, the Enlightenment, the Socratic method. Centred on the cult of reason, on investigation, on science, they subject themselves to tests and interrogations to get to knowledge, and to know themselves. They move in the darkness to come to see the light, and support themselves as a family in the process. They never lie. Lies and deception are not contemplated, to arrive at the Truth. They oppose all forms of mystification and, if they can, expose lies and deceptions.

Relations:

In your first moments at university you bonded a lot with J. Stonehouse   and T. Thurston  . Your trio formed in the weeks before classes began, among those students who had already arrived at Devington. However, you and Thurston ended up getting accepted to the same secret society, and Stonehouse was not. Stonehouse accused you of not doing anything to help them get admitted, they said you wanted it to be just the two of you. Slowly, that anger turned into indifference and then even a little hostility.
N. Cave's sister   saved your sister by donating a kidney to her. You and Cave have had a brotherly bond ever since. Your sisters have also bonded a lot, and your families in general.
On your first day at Devington you tried to appeal to Secretary S. Warrick   against the non-admission of a high school friend who had applied for a scholarship with you. You dreamed of going to Devington together, but she was not accepted. Your idealism pushed you over the edge: she had suffered an injustice. You gained nothing except for the suspicion that you had gone too far.
